Meaning of the Name
Leaksmy: The God of Happiness and Wealth
Skor: Sugar
Thnot: The name of the palm tree

Kampot Skor Thnot is a type of sugar often referred to as "palm sugar" in Japan, yet its properties and characteristics vary greatly depending on the region of production, the species of palm, and the environment in which it grows.
Unlike typical palm sugar, Kampot Skor Thnot produced in the Kampot region is characterized by its distinct creamy color.
In Cambodia, it has long been cherished as a vital source of energy. Today, it is utilized for a wide range of purposes, from nutritional support and beauty to everyday snacks and desserts.
Why it is called
"The Miracle Raw Sugar"
Kampot Skor Thnot is made from the sap of a special species of palm tree found exclusively in the southernmost region of Cambodia. The harvest is limited to a specific window from November to around May each year.
Furthermore, only skilled "hunters" who have undergone special training are permitted to perform the harvest. The work is carried out by carefully assessing the tree’s location, size, thickness, and stage of growth.
Gathering the sap is an extremely harsh and dangerous task that involves climbing palm trees over 20 meters high barefoot. This is not a job that just anyone can do; it requires many years of experience and high-level skill.

As described, with the harvest location, timing, personnel, and methods all strictly limited, mass production is impossible. This is why Kampot Skor Thnot is known as "The Miracle Raw Sugar."
A Special Land—Kampot,
the Southernmost Tip of Cambodia
The Kampot region, where Kampot Skor Thnot is produced, is located at the southernmost tip of Cambodia.
The palm trees growing in this land flourish while being deeply nourished by the seawater and sea breezes. Because they grow in an environment distinct from inland or other regions, noticeable differences arise in the properties and the final quality of the sugar, even compared to other palm sugars.
In the Kampot region, the culture of cultivating these palm trees, harvesting their sap, and producing sugar has been passed down since ancient times. This is an endeavor carried out through a deep understanding of the land's characteristics and a profound connection with nature.

The Process: Handcrafted from Harvest to Finish
The harvested sap is collected in one location, where impurities are carefully removed using sieves and other tools.
Following this, the sap is boiled over high heat using a special kiln and large pots. The boiling process lasts for approximately four hours, during which it cannot be left unattended for even a single moment. It must be stirred constantly to ensure the sap does not burn or stick to the pot.
Once the boiling is complete, it is transferred to smaller pots for manual refining. Each batch is finished with the utmost care while the artisans monitor its final state.

Why it Results in a Creamy Color
While typical palm sugar usually turns an amber color, Kampot Skor Thnot is characterized by its beautiful, creamy white finish.
This unique color is a direct result of the specific environment in which the trees grow and the traditional manual methods preserved throughout the entire process, from harvest to the final touch.

Inherited Wisdom and Daily Dedication
Once completed, the sugar is bottled in various forms, such as paste or solids, depending on the product type. As soon as the day’s work is finished, tubes are once again set in the palm trees to prepare for the next morning’s harvest.
Through the repetition of these daily tasks, Kampot Skor Thnot is crafted—a culmination of harsh labor, the wisdom of ancestors, and tireless effort.
